Component A is designed to work across a wide range of NSW classroom contexts. Because no two classrooms are the same, all components are presented separately with no fixed sequence. Teachers determine the order and focus of lessons based on assessment and student need.
-
All lessons follow an explicit teaching model, supporting clear instruction, guided practice, and independent application. This allows teachers to select and sequence lessons rather than follow a rigid program.
-
Each component includes 20 lessons for Years 3 to 6, enabling targeted teaching where students need additional practice, such as vocabulary or skill reinforcement. The structure supports formative assessment and ongoing adjustment.
-
The resource is easy to navigate. Teachers can move directly to their chosen component and lesson without rearranging slides, making it suitable for varied literacy schedules or schools teaching one unit per term.
-
The breadth of choice reflects best practice in differentiation, supporting teacher judgement informed by ongoing assessment.
