These teaching slides complement Multi Age K-2 Year A of the NSW English Sample Units of Work, Unit 1: Context, released by the Department of Education found here.

Please note: that due to copyright licensing, little prep may be required on your part as I am not able to insert all resources into the teaching slides. I will provide prompts within the slides to ensure you know exactly what resources need to be inserted and on what slides to ensure that the flow of your lesson is fluid and seamless.

This resource is made in Google slides. They are PowerPoint compatible, however converting it to PowerPoint may cause warping or alignment issues. These can be rectified manually. Major issues may include:
  • Font - Google Education Foundation font has been used. Download font here.
  • Text box alignment issues may occur. To rectify, you will need to click on the text box, then select the paragraph line spacing option and change to 0 pt spacing before and after.

About the slide setup for Multi Age Units:
As this is a multistage unit, often parts of the lessons or resources are relevant to either Early Stage 1 or Stage 1.
  • To make this discrete, or easier to identify, I have used the following animals to assist.
  • The wombat icon on the slides identifies all Early Stage 1 content and resources. It was chosen as it is an animal that lays low, walks the ground symbolising laying the groundwork or foundations of English. Therefore, Early Stage 1 concepts will be identified by the Wombat.
  • The kangaroo icon on the slides identifies all Stage 1 content and resources. It was chosen as it is an animal that jumps to new heights. It still relies on the ground to travel, but leaps and bounds forwards, extending on what they know. Therefore, Stage 1 concepts will be identified by the Kangaroo.


References and materials covered throughout are specifically stated/attributed within the teaching slides.

Some great videos and concepts

Firstly, I really like the aesthetic and the links to videos.
However, I do NOT like the slides which have a text box that say to insert a resource from another page. Often, I can't find the resources that I'm meant to insert and it just makes the whole process take longer than it needs to.
Also, some worksheets would make a good addition.

I am sorry that you do not like the text box which mentions inserting a resource. As per every product description, unfortunately due to copyright, I am unable to insert certain resources into the slides. By doing so, would be a direct breach in copyright, something I am not willing to do. But I have made this clear in all product decsriptions. Unfortunately in the K-2 Sample units, a lot of the resources are protected under copyright, in 3-6 they seemed to change the copyright conditions and so more resources are able to be placed into the slides. Please always make sure that you read the product descriptions carefully so that you know what you are purchasing and what may be involved when purchasing. Worksheets are available and can be purchased through our new product range 'Activity Packs'. I hope this information helps to explain why these texts boxes are in the teaching slides, I wish I didn't have to put them in there, but unfortunately my hands are tied. But in those text boxes I have provided what resource belongs where, and all resources are found at the bottom of each sample unit which makes it easy to navigate and locate, copy and paste into the slides.
